Meet Scholarship Recipient Anna Olson
Congratulations to Anna Olson, one of this year’s Kelly Community scholarship recipients!
Anna Olson is a leader whose faith guides her decisions.
With a long list of leadership awards, sports accomplishments and music accolades to her name, it’s no surprise that this driven graduate is also the salutatorian of her high school class.
Olson has spent much of her life giving back to others. She has filled hundreds of Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes with her family. She has volunteered at local spots such as the Children’s Park and PATH. Needless to say, Olson has a keen understanding of the large impact a small act can have on a community.
“Throughout all my service and volunteer experience, I grew so much in character. I learned to humbly serve so that I may be able to bless others in my community,” Olson said.
In addition to community volunteer efforts, Olson also plays the violin for her church’s worship team, plays volleyball and soccer, runs track, and leads her school’s orchestra as concertmaster.
In everything she does, Olson strives to live out her faith. Whether she gets to see the fruits of her efforts or not, she finds joy in simply knowing she is helping others.
“It meant a lot to me to be able to help provide a house for someone who needed it, even though I was never able to meet the family. I am sure that it blessed them beyond what I could know,” Olson said in talking about her experience working with PATH to prepare a house for a low-income family.
What’s next for Olson? She’s attending Collin College and plans to pursue occupational therapy, sports medicine or music performance.
Congratulations, Anna! We can’t wait to see your impact continue to grow!
